Capacity

I have been praying for years for God to assist me in being successful wherever it is that he sends me. However, what I hadn't been consistent to pray for was, The Capacity.
We've heard stories of people who won the lottery and spent all the money. We know athletes who spent years making millions who are now broke. We know couples who grow empires together and then split up. We know politicians who get into position and seemingly fall apart... I would argue, it is the lack of capacity!
Unfortunately, sometimes... the dream falls into our lap when we're not quite ready for it. There are times we end up in the promise without the tools to care for the gift. When this happens, we have errored in the position of preparation. We should first be ensuring we have the capacity for the blessing, promotion or opportunity we're asking for.
I was running last week when I realized what it looks like to lack capacity. I went to the trail with the intention to run 2 miles. I truly enjoy running; therefore, I thought it should be no problem. What I had not considered was if I had the capacity to run 2 miles. How did I think I had the capacity to keep a consistent running pace for 2 miles when I hadn't ran one mile without stopping in months?
I continued for the duration of my workout to run, walk, run, walk; however, I felt a bit disappointed. This wasn't what I signed up for. I had a vision in my mind of my run without the preparation needed to complete it. How many of us have been guilty of this?
We consider what the promotion will look like instead of realizing the sacrifice that comes with it. We get excited about the wedding without considering the work that goes into maintaining a marriage. We pray for the financial blessing without practicing self-discipline or budgeting.
What are you asking God for in which you haven't prepared for? What can you do to begin preparing for the very blessing you've asked for. The Bible says "study to show thysef approved", how are you studying his word and the leadership of others to become more disciplined, knowledgeable and determined in the thing you're asking him for. How are you preparing to take the proper care of the thing you're asking God for?
We must do what it takes to prepare our capacity for the growth, opportunities and blessings God intends to send our way so that we have the capacity to handle them once we've received them.

We so often set expectations for where we want to be instead where we seek to be. We have to be SMART when setting goals so we do no give up. (Smart Measurable Attainable Realistic Trackable)
