1st of all ... 10/10 every day of the week. This book is life changing! Mariela does an exceptional job of drawing you in. It feels like a coffee date with one of your long term friends...

Mariela starts the book off with pure vulnerability. You quickly learn who she is, where she is from and why she is here. It is as if she is vetting herself for you. She is telling you her deepest darkest secrets to say :
I am here fore you.
I have been where you are.
I know how you feel.
I can relate to your story.
I empathize with your pain.
I believe that no matter who you are there is something in the life story of Mariela that is relatable to you. She then uses that story to encourage and motivate you into purpose and passion. The vulnerability creates and emotional connection that is needed if anyone is going to heal.
Again, 10/10.
Another thing I love about this book is the pause for reflection. I love a pause or little moment to breathe when the information is heavy. Mariela is giving life altering advice and eliciting change in those who are reading her work... you need a "pause for the cause". After every chapter Mariela provides a Garden Reflection (questions to reflect on the chapter), prayer, and a declaration/purpose statement in regard to the chapter. This also allows you to come back and review even after you've finished reading the book.
Did I say 10/10?
In just 8 Garden Lessons (her teaching points) Mariela folds back the truth about shame in our lives. She challenges you to be honest about the things that have made you feel unworthy of the fulfillment of Gods plan for your life. She then encourages the behaviors that we need to heal those wounds and walk it out. I can't say enough haw necessary of a read this book is
In addition, Mariela is a phenomenal Bible Teacher ! No one can tell me otherwise. I was empowered by way she intertwines the word of God with her personal revelation. This helps the reader take this new knowledge deeper. There are hundreds of scriptures provided to back up the teaching throughout these pages.
The last thing and what I would consider the most influential, the voice of the author. I don't mean the audible voice I mean the love, care, and desire floating off of the pages in the final chapters if the book. Her final words are:
Now go. It's time for you to get up and start speaking fire.
After 200 pages of challenging, loving and encouraging us she calls us to action.
So, if you haven't read this book Please do! & come back and tell me how life altering it was for you. Shame no longer has a hold on us. We are free to walk in who he called us to be!
