Have you heard of National Erase Self-Negativity Day?
April 10th has been declared as a day of "encouraging everyone to take steps toward erasing the influence negative self-talk has on our lives."
How will you honor Self-Negativity Day?
I would like to share with you how I pushed the Negative Talk out of my vocabulary for my 33rd birthday. In February I decide I would run 3 miles for my 33rd birthday. I have enjoyed running but was not necessarily an efficient runner. In February I decided to start training myself. I downloaded the Nike Run App and began their "Becoming Your Own Best Coach" Running Plan.
For 3 weeks I had guided recovery runs, interval runs and longer runs to get my body acclimated to running. In February I was running and walking my mile. By April I was able to run 3 miles without stopping.
What does this have to do with Erase Self-Negativity Day?
There were days I did not want to run, I had to get out there.
The Nike Run Coach was encouraging by calling me an athlete, a runner and a super star.
I remember running intervals one day and not wanting to run any longer, I started talking out loud, encouraging myself. I realized I am my biggest cheerleader. If I can dig in and encourage myself, so can you!

Personal Empowerment also came on April 6, 2024 when I hit the Virginia Beach Ocean Front to run my 3 miles. It was windy, cold and I was alone. I hit that boardwalk put my favorite songs in my airpods and put my feet to the pavement. Not only did I complete my run I shaved minutes off of my time... & SO CAN YOU!

On this "Erase Self-Negativity Day" I want to encourage you to think of a personal goal you need or have and make the decision that you will do the hard work it takes to obtain it.
You are your biggest cheerleader, and you can do what it takes to obtain the goal.
